Acupuncture

As the oldest and most highly researched alternative medicine in the world, acupuncture is one of the fastest-growing alternative therapies and is increasingly being used to complement the benefits of Western medicine.

Acupuncture is based on the Chinese Medicine practice that works with the natural flow of energy in the body.

The energy flow moves through channels called meridians and impacts every aspect of our health including our mental and physical wellness.

During an acupuncture treatment, disposable needles are inserted at specific points to balance the energy in the body.

Cupping

Cupping therapy, an ancient form of medicine, uses the suction of a cup on the surface of the body.  This process releases tight muscles, removes stagnation, and enhances circulation to the general area being treated.

Cupping, coupled with the treatment of Acupuncture, can have optimal benefits. However, cupping on its own is a nice alternative to those who have an aversion to needles. In TCM every syndrome has its properties to identify it. Cupping is extremely useful when releasing excess syndromes, which may include pain, swelling, anxiety, tight muscles, migraines, and fatigue.

Additionally, the negative pressure of the cups has proven to be a component in treating high blood pressure by sedating the nervous system’s response.

When the negative pressure of the cups is applied they sometimes glide, or remain stationary.

Gliding cupping is a treatment in which the cups are in motion with manual manipulation by hand. The cups can glide in any direction to maximize the release of pathogens in the area.

After a cupping treatment, there may be evidence of the cups, known as stagnation. Usually, the toxin level from the pathogen will show colour with different levels of richness. With each additional treatment, there will be less toxin. Essentially, Cups work!
